2012 comes to an end, the end of yet another year and marking 11 years that have been in YWAM, about 7 ½ half of those years here in Uganda.
Work in administration still goes on. Since the beginning of the year I have been concentrating on the accounts.
The highlight of the year (August) was going to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania for the YWAM Eastern Africa Staff Conference. YWAMers came from all nations where YWAM is active in Eastern Africa. The bus journey in both directions was long (including 2 border crossings each way).
In November I spent a weekend on Lingiri Island in Lake Victoria, helping the YWAM ministry there with their internet connection. The island is about an hours boat ride from Jinja.
Other happenings at Hope Land this year have been 2 Discipleship Training Schools, a Vocational Training School (6 young Ugandan girls) and a Discipleship Training School. YWAM teams from Australia and Canada also came to do outreach in Uganda. We also provided conference facilities for other Christian organizations this year.
Prayer
Health – a couple of weeks ago I suffered a malaria attack. I was down for 4 days, but was on treatment and recovered well.
Safety in the region – Jinja is generally safe, but it's concerning to note of rebellion in neigbouring DR Congo and frequent terrorist attacks happening in Kenya.
Work permit – as I write, I am still waiting for news on my work permit being renewed. New regulations require that NGO board approves work permits for missionaries in Uganda.
Finances – needs are available on request.
GENESIS (Video Conferencing ministry) – with my current ISP, I am unable to connect directly to other VC sites. Connection is only possible through 1 bridging site. Connectivity is 3G based.
